At the Porter County Community Foundation

we put the power to do good in your hands. Together we build a stronger Porter County.

How to Make a Difference

There are so many ways to make a positive impact in your community. You can give today and watch your gift at work, or create an estate plan that establishes your own legacy of giving. Gifts can be as simple as a check, or in the form of real estate, appreciated securities, life insurance policies, and many other options.

Here are just 10 ideas for making a difference. We’d also love to talk to you about creating your own ways to be a philanthropist.

  1. Give an annual gift

General contributions may be made any time to support charitable work throughout Porter County.

  2. Become an event sponsor

By sponsoring an event (or a year of events!), you make it possible for more dollars to go toward grants and other good works.

  3. Join the Circle of Promise

Circle of Promise members support the Foundation’s annual campaign with a gift of $1,000 or more.

  4. Become a member of the Echo Society

Echo Society members create their own legacies by making a planned or estate gift to an endowment fund with the Foundation.

  5. Contribute to charitable endowment funds

You may contribute to one or more of the 350+ funds created through the Foundation – representing so many different causes.

  6. Support talented students with scholarship funds

You may establish your own scholarship fund or contribute to existing scholarships created at the Foundation.

  7. Become a member of Impact Porter County

This giving circle for the Women’s Fund of Porter County includes women who contribute $1,000 or more annually to support causes that benefit Porter County women and children. Each member gets a voice in choosing an annual recipient to receive an impact grant.

  8. Join the @PCgivingproject

This group of young leaders from 20-somethings to 40-somethings is stepping up to make a difference for generations to come.

  9. Sparking the Arts

This lively group fosters the arts in Porter County, providing grants for today and a long-term endowment for the future.

  10. Make an Impact

The Foundation takes a leadership role in defining the county’s greatest collective needs and then finding ways to meet these needs. Currently homelessness, literacy, and substance abuse are the three most pressing needs. You can get involved in any (or all) of these initiatives to make a lasting impact.
